Dovie L. Anderson was originally elected on April 4, 2017, and took office on May 15, 2017. She was re-elected and began her second term May 17, 2021.
Anderson is a graduate of Scales Mound High School (Scales Mound, Illinois) and Highland Community College (Freeport, Illinois). She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, Illinois).
She has lived in Freeport since attending Highland Community College after high school. Her prior work experience includes Administrative Assistant for a local engineering firm, Legal Assistant for a local law firm, and teacher with the school district and a non-profit early learning center. Volunteer and civic experience includes past president, past secretary, and grant writer for local non-profit organizations. She is currently a member of Freeport Noon Kiwanis and on the board of VOICES of Stephenson County.
Anderson received her Certified Municipal Clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) and Registered Municipal Clerk designation from the Municipal Clerks of Illinois (MCI) in January 2020. She is a member of IIMC and MCI as well as the Northwestern Illinois Municipal Clerks Association (NIMCA).
