Waste Disposal and Recycling System

Please contact the hauler to determine which one serves your area. Waste Disposal All trash and recyclables must be at the curb by 5:00 a.m. on your pick-up day
Stickers can be purchased at the following locations: Moring Disposal - phone 815-233-9216 (open 7:00 am to 4:30 pm)
Gill's Freeport Disposal - phone 815-233-5644 (open 8:00 am to 4:30 pm)
Recyclable Item Preparation Requirements (view link for further info) You may put out all of the recyclables which are accepted by your hauler (see list below), placed at curb the evening before your pickup day. All materials may be co-mingled in your recycling bin. All residences must have a recycling bin at the curb to help the driver identify your stop for recycling collection. Additional bins are available at Freeport Recycling Center for $12.00. Metal Products/ Tin and Aluminum Cans/ Formed Containers: i.e. pie tins and foil products. Empty and rinse container completely. Place lids inside cans. Labels do not have to be removed. Glass Jars and Bottles only: Empty and rinse container completely. Labels do not need to be removed. Plastic Jugs and Bottles: Containers with the numbers 1 through 7 on the bottom (except Styrofoam). Empty and sinse container completely. Labels do not need to be removed. Newsprint: Bundle, bag or place in bottom of your bin. Junk Mail: Includes envelopes, fliers, brochures, advertisements, old papers, white and colored papers. Brown Kraft Paper Bags: Grocery, shopping, lunch bags, etc. Corrugated (Cardboard Boxes): Break down, bundle or stack in manageable sizes not exceeding 3 foot square Other Cardboard: Food, clothing, shoe, toy and game boxes, beverage cartons, soda boxes, etc. Plastic grocery bags are unacceptable with curbside recycling, therefore, it is preferred that you use paper bags for any separation or extra items.
