Junior Police Academy What Is It? The Junior Police Academy is a week long program designed to reach out to area youth and inspire good citizenship through criminal justice education. It consists of a series of classes and discussions from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. There is no cost to anyone who enrolls. The classes will provide insight into various aspects of law enforcement. It is an educational program that allows youth the opportunity to develop a relationship with the police department. This program also allows the participant a unique “hands-on” opportunity in a variety of law enforcement tasks and responsibilities. There will also be guest speakers from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Goals
Who Can Attend? Area youth currently enrolled in fifth through eighth grades. Applicants must not have been arrested or referred to Juvenile Probation for felony crimes. Graduation Requirements Must attend at least 80 % of the week long course and must comply with the agreed upon Code of Conduct.
