The City of Freeport IL has the following full time openings available:
Reporting to the Director of Community & Economic Development, the Nuisance Inspector is responsible for performing skilled office and field work involving the identification, inspection, investigation and correction of violations of City codes and ordinances. The Inspector responds to inquiries and citizen complaints and conducts on-site investigations accordingly, to identify potentially hazardous conditions. Preparing and maintaining a variety of records, reports, logs, memoranda, and files related to field and office investigations and activities, is required. The Nuisance Inspector is also required to compile case files for public hearings and court proceedings, and for testifying at hearings in the Circuit Court on behalf of the City.
Minimum requirements include a valid driver's license with excellent driving record. Adequate computer skills to efficiently perform various types of communications, as well as software data entry are required. Code Enforcement Officer Certification, within six months after date of acceptance of the position, is also required as a condition of continued employment.
Starting salary is $17.93 per hour, with a benefit package that includes an IMRF pension, health insurance and more. Deadline to apply is April 20, 2018. INSTRUMENT & CONTROL TECHNICIAN/ELECTRICIAN
The City of Freeport, IL Water & Sewer Dept. has an opening for a first shift Instrument & Control Technician/Electrician. Responsibilities include the maintenance and troubleshooting of 480-volt three phase motors and controls, including VFD's and PLC's, including input/output digital and analog loop control devices. Duties also include performing preventive maintenance on all electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment including pumps, compressors, aerating blowers, augers, gear reducers, and HVAC units, as wells as performing other general maintenance as required. This position is subject to call in for off hours emergencies. A high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and five years verifiable experience in heavy industrial environmental and water/wastewater instrumentation and controls, with a working knowledge of SCADA control systems is required. Above average computer skills are necessary. Starting pay for this position is $20.82 per hour. The City of Freeport offers an excellent benefit package that includes an IMRF pension.
