The Finance Department of the City of Freeport:
manages the City's financial resources and budgeting
handles the City's payroll and accounts payable
oversees internal and external audits
and handles the purchasing activity for the City

Sales Tax Increase: The sales tax rate for general merchandise for the City of Freeport will increase from 7% to 7 1/4% effective July 1, 2007. For prepared foods which are subject to the City's food and beverage tax, the rate will increase from 9 % to 9 1/4 % effective July 1, 2007.
