Linda O'Neill was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Freeport in 1970. She attended Northern Illinois University, graduating with a BS degree with a major in nursing.

Linda worked for 30 years for FHN in a variety of roles, including Practice Director and then three years with the Northern Illinois Health Plan. Currently, she works for the Monroe Clinic.

Before being elected to City Council, Linda served 4 years as a Freeport Township Trustee. She also has been a volunteer on many community committees over the past 35 years, including Healthy Communities 21st Century.

Linda is a member of Faith United Methodist Church and a graduate of the Leadership Institute. She is currently a member of the ADA Compliance Commision.

When asked how she will serve the 7th Ward Linda answered, "I see my role as alderman as an extension of the years I was a patient advocate during my nursing career. "
