Position Statement

Randy Corbin believes that in order to be economically viable, Freeport needs to attract both retail and mid-sized manufacturing businesses in order to create jobs for the people of Freeport. In order to accomplish this goal, Randy feels that all governmental agencies need to work together to support a business-friendly atmosphere to prospective companies. Tax incentives, governmental intercession and a willing and trained workforce are the building blocks to encourage growth in Freeport. Specific areas of concern for Randy are the Lincoln Mall and Highway 26 near the by-pass.

Randy also believes that safety is a paramount issue to the people of Freeport. The police and fire departments, which have done admirable jobs, need to have the continued support of the city council. Randy feels that one of the basic infrastructure ingredients is the excellent professionals who maintain our safety and well-being.

The infrastructure of any organization is important - from a home to a city - if we neglect the basic required maintenance in lie of ill-conceived costs savings, we all lose in the long run. Randy feels that attention needs to be paid to the basic services in the city - from the water services to streets and other city services - we need to be responsible stewards.

As Alderman at-Large, Randy understands that all of the communities within Freeport's Boundaries will be under his stewardship. Each of these neighborhoods has its own challenges and concerns. Randy believes that the people who live in a community are the experts about the issues they face. To insure that he gets his information from the right source, Randy wans to develop a continued dialog with the residents of all of the communities in Freeport through localized Town Hall meetins on a regular basis.

Randy is concerned about the future of Freeport, which is why he spends so much time with the children of Freeport. Through his involvement in Kiwanis, Randy volunteers his time to K-Kids, an organization designed to teach children how to provide service to others. Randy endorses the motto of Kiwanis which states: "...serving the children of the world, one child and one community at a time." Randy has also been a subsititute teacher at Freeport High School and Junior High School. He understands the challenges facing our youth today and wants to work to help offer the children of Freeport the support they need to excel.
